I have been a patient at Portmore for years. Hadn’t been for about 4 years due to anxiety. I have had a lot done to my teeth as a child so I’ve got a lot of trauma and fear around the dentist. Saw a new dentist and he didn’t ask why I hadn’t been for so long or ask me if I was nervous at all. The whole appointment felt very rushed. I felt a little bit like things weren’t explained as fully as they should have been, perhaps because I was a young woman on my own. Didn’t seem like the dentist had looked into my history/file. And if it’s not on a file, he didn’t ask what I’ve had done before/wasn’t interested, despite me mentioning that I’ve had a lot done in the past. I even tried to voice my anxiety by saying that I hoped I could avoid having my wisdom teeth out “because I’m absolutely terrified”. But he shrugged it off and didn’t really take me seriously. I left feeling deflated and anxious, which caused a panic attack leaving me seriously considering whether I want to go back to Portmore. It took a lot for me to make the appointment and get myself into the dentist. I chose Portmore because they are usually professional and kind. They are expensive compared to other dentists but I don’t mind paying for quality and a calming environment. I’m hoping that my next experience, a consultation for treatment, will be a lot better, otherwise I will be leaving and not returning unfortunately. – How would you describe your overall experience?
